Cagarras Islands

Forte Beach

Just 400 m long, Praia do Forte do Rio Branco, also known as Praia de Fora, belongs to the Oceanic Region of Niterói, located at the exit of Guanabara Bay.

This beach is home to the Pico and Ouvires hills, which make up its landscape.

Praia de Fora is one of the best beaches in the region, especially due to its historical value. The beach is located in Forte Barão do Rio Branco and, close to it, are Forte São Luiz, Forte do Pico and Forte Imbuí.

As it is a military area, Praia de Fora is well preserved, characterized by its fine, grayish sands and crystal clear, greenish waters with a pleasant temperature.

Itaipú Beach (Itaipú beach)

Itaipu Beach is located in the oceanic region of the city of Niterói and is approximately 1,000 meters long. It is the only oceanic beach in the city to be characterized by its very calm waters, which is due to the formation of a cove on this beach. The name Itaipu is of Tupi Guarani origin and means "singing stone" or "stone on which the water makes noise".
